How to get started

Report your injury. Tell your employer, then report it to WorkSafeBC to start your claim. Report it right away. You have up to one year from the date of injury. How to report a work injury.

Get your claim number. WorkSafeBC mails you an 8-digit claim number once they receive your report. Give it to anyone who treats you.

Book with us online or by phone and tell us it's a WorkSafeBC claim.

Start treatment. Your physiotherapist assesses your injury and builds a plan around your job demands.
Good to know: If you get treatment before your claim is accepted, you may be asked to pay your provider directly. If your claim is later accepted, you can ask for reimbursement. This is why we recommend reporting your injury right away.

After a crash in BC, ICBC's Enhanced Care covers your treatment for the first 12 weeks, no matter who was responsible. You don't need a doctor's referral and you don't need ICBC's approval first. You do need your ICBC claim number and your Personal Health Number (PHN).
We bill ICBC directly for pre-approved treatment, so you can focus on getting better instead of handling paperwork.

Yes. WorkSafeBC is the name the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) goes by today. Many people still say WCB.
