What is arthristis?
A kind of joint condition where one or more joints are inflamed. With over 100 different types of arthritis, they can be divided into 2 groups, degenerative (wear and tear, also known as Osteoarthritis) or inflammatory (infection in a joint, an example is Rheumatoid Arthritis). Other common types of inflammatory arthritis are Psoriatic Arthritis, Lupus, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Gout, and Fibromyalgia.
Because arthritis is a degenerative condition, it's crucial to recognise the signs and symptoms early, diagnose the condition, and understand the many types of arthritis. This enables the creation of a self-management strategy and the pursuit of therapy to stop the disease's progression. Physiotherapists can offer information, coping mechanisms, and create a rehabilitation programme that includes exercises for specific joints, physical fitness routines, and suggestions for assistive devices.
