What is acupuncture?
How Does Acupuncture Work?
During acupuncture, fine needles are carefully inserted into selected areas of the body. The points and treatment approach are chosen according to your individual presentation and the goals of your physiotherapy treatment.
Acupuncture may be used alongside other physiotherapy approaches rather than necessarily as a standalone treatment. Your physiotherapist will determine whether it is appropriate for you as part of your overall treatment plan.
What Can Acupuncture Help With?
Acupuncture may be incorporated into physiotherapy care for certain musculoskeletal concerns, including:
- Muscle tension and discomfort
- Certain types of joint or soft-tissue pain
- Mobility limitations
- Sports-related injuries
- Muscle-related conditions
- Other pain-related concerns assessed by your physiotherapist
