Taping and Strapping techniques are used to aid both the treatment and prevention of injury. The role of tape is to limit the movement in an injured joint or structure to prevent excess or abnormal movement. In addition it should provide support to the affected structures therefore reducing pain.
Aim of Strapping Tape?
After your assessment, your physiotherapist will design your optimal taping to best meet your current needs, These can include:
Relieves pain
Increases range of motion
Assists tissue recovery
Reduces fatigue
May normalize length/tension ratios in muscles to create optimal force
Improves muscle contraction of a weakened muscle (Facilitation)
Stimulates relaxation of over-contracted muscle (Inhibition)
